Got Milk?

Help! My babies are on strike!! A milk strike that is!! Apparently all the homemade baby food that I have been making them....

Mmm... sweet potatoes ready for the freezer!

...is just so delicious that they don't want to drink their milk anymore....  I mean, they drink a bottle in the morning when they wake up, and before they go to bed at night, but during the day they will only drink an ounce or two here and there. I'll even try and give them milk before they have a meal when they're nice and hungry, but they still just drink an ounce or two and push it away.  Now I know up until a year old milk is supposed to be their main source of nutrition, and I know as they get older it's probably natural for them to have less interest in it, but I think this is pretty soon- I mean, we just started solids a few weeks ago! I'm still pumping every 3-4 hours, but having to put most of it in the freezer.  I already have about 200oz frozen just from the past week and a half! I mean, is this normal???????

Anyway, here is what we were up to this weekend...

Apparently playing in a box is a great distraction from teething pain

And taking a stroll in the lovely weather! You probably can't tell, but Mia has a tooth now too!

And just hangin' out!

They are just growing up so darn fast!

Houston, we have a tooth!

Someone decided to grow a tooth this weekend!! Thank goodness it was the weekend and his daddy was home because the crabbiness was out of control! He's actually been getting increasingly crabby over the past week, but this weekend was a whole new level- if he wasn't being held he was squealing!

Well, after about two dozen pictures I finally managed to get a picture of it... can you see it? On the bottom left...

I think he was trying to tell me something....

OK, if I cooperate will you get that thing out of my face? Cheeese!

Now, his sister has been kind of on the crabby side the past couple days as well, so I'm guessing perhaps she's got one on the way too!

Belly Sleeping

While Ben is still happily sleeping swaddled, on his back, happy as a clam, Miss Mia has decided that in light of the fact that she is now 6 months old, sleeping in her own room, in he own crib, that she is all grown up and should sleep on her belly!  This all started a couple nights ago, when as I watched the monitor, I saw her roll over on to her belly while swaddled! The next night I only zipped her woombie halfway up, and left her arms out... by midnight she had completely kicked it off and was on her belly.  That was pretty much the last time she slept on her back- as soon as I put her in her crib now, she immediately flips over. Now I know that you are not supposed to put a baby to sleep on their belly before 1 year, but the doctor said that once they do it on their own there really isn't anything you can do.

It kind of freaks me out, and I watch the monitor compulsively whenever she is sleeping, BUT... are you ready for this??? Naps are now a piece of cake for her!! My life just got SO much easier! Ben doesn't give too much trouble going down for a nap, but it used to be an absolute nightmare getting Mia to take a nap! Now that she can flip herself over it's although a whole new world has opened up to her, and she can sleep on her own terms! She now goes to sleep within about 5 minutes of putting her down, literally laughs and plays herself to sleep- it's AMAZING!!!  Also, she now loves tummy time! My husband told me that I seem much less stressed these days... why? All because of a little girl who no longer has sleep issues!  Excuse me while I go knock on wood!

How I put her to bed (no not upside down, it won't rotate!)

How she wakes up

6 Months Old!

Today my babies turn six months old!! Yes, actually TODAY! I'm on time for once! I know I said that I'd be a better blogger this year, but, well, because of two babies who seem to think that napping for more than 20 minutes is against the law, I may just have to be a once a month blogger for now!

They had their six month exam today, Ben was weighing in at 15.5lbs and Mia at 13lbs. To me they are huge, but I know compared to most they are still little peanuts!

The biggest things that have happened in the past couple weeks, are that we FINALLY moved them into their own room (yes, they were in our bedroom for 5 1/2 months! And a couple weeks ago, they tried solid food (well, rice cereal) for the first time. The doctor gave the OK to start introducing other foods, so baby food making here I come!

I swear I was just putting up pictures of them coming home from the hospital...Where has the time gone? I can't beleive that I've been a mom... of TWO for a whole half a year already!  They grow and change so much every day, and are so very different from each other, I just love watching their little personalities develop, and each day I fall more and more in love...
